This story from John Norton:
This photo was taken at Manfeild race track, 2003 Morris Minor Convention. She still had the side valve in then. It was not long (about 4 months) after that she haemorrhaged and had the tummy transplant. There was only one fella (Barry Brown) in the Club that knew what we were doing, I needed to tell him so that he could source a few knobby bits for me without arousing suspicion.
The following year the Convention was in Christchurch, we arranged to meet on the wharf at Wellington so as to travel the South Island in convoy.
When we arrived at Picton I carefully positioned myself as "tail end Charlie", until we reached those first hills.
Then I pulled her back through the box and GAVE HER SNOT !
Picked them all off one or two at a time.
Barrelled on up, over the top, halfway down pulled in to a lay-by, jumped out of the car, leant against it cigarette in hand nonchalant as, (as though we'd been there for hours) and gave a Lady Di wave as they went past.
All laughing their heads off.
